Amelia Knight Colour Couture Cosmetics Kit Review

Hi Everyone!! This is my first blog post. I am still trying to figure out how to work blogger, so please bear with me. As I get used to the layout, I will try to give my page a better design. For now the design and layout is basic, but it will have to do for now. Also, in case if you didn't know, I have a youtube channel. Unfortunately, the way how google is formatted, I couldn't use blogger on my real default account, but whatever. So, on the link to my google + profile isn't actually the one that I use. In case you didn't know I started a YouTube Channel last year, and I post videos like makeup tutorials, first impressions, and reviews. And as of my birthday I have received 16 subscribers. Yay!!! So, enough with the intro and let's get started on the review.

On July 12 it was my birthday and a present that I received was this Kit below.

I was actually amazed how much there was and was a little excited since the box was huge. Although, since I have never heard of the brand and didn't really know where it was from, I was a little scared to even try out the products. But guess what...I did try them out, because you know what...what the heck. Also it was gifted to me, so I feel bad if I don't at least try it. The box was made out of cardboard and the opening is magnetic. Since I have never heard of the brand, I did some quick research on it and found out that it was made in the U.K. I live in the U.S., so that's probably why I have never heard of the brand. The box is about 30cm/1ft long,about 25cm/10inches long, and about 6cm/2.5 inches deep. This kit came with three lip glosses, 1 eyeshadow crayon, 2 nail polishes, a blush duo, a bronzer block, 15 eyeshadows (at a first glance most of them look shimmery), three eyeshadow dust, 1 two sided applicator, and 3 one sided applicator.

Since the eyeshadows, blush, and bronzer were in single pans, I got an empty CD case that I had and taped them on there. (I know that sounds really ghetto)

I used duck tape to secure the back. If I reach for these shadows more often in the future, then I will sure be transferring them to a z palette if I ever buy one. If I don't then I don't find there being a point to buy a z palette if I'm not going to use them. After deputing them from the container this is what my new palette looked like. And as you could tell from the pictures, I have already swatched all of the shadows by then.

 Depoting them took about half an hour. It took so long because the back of each pan had shadow all over the place, and I needed them to be clean so I could securely tape them on the case.

Now going with the swatches I have to say that for the most part it was pretty good. Although I do have to say that some of them were a bit chalky. I also want to mention, I don't have the best lighting, because of that for most swatches I included pictures with both natural and artificial lighting. 

Starting off with the bronzer. I first swatched every strip separately. Each one was very shimmery and pretty pigmented. Now in the summer time, I think that this is perfect put on for a sunkist look. The last swatch on the top is a mixture of all 5 colors.

Now moving on to the duo blush. Since the majority of the kit has shimmery shadows, I was actually scared that the blush was shimmery as well. Even though on the pan it didn't look like it, I was hoping that it wasn't secretly shimmery. Luckily it was matte. Hooray for matte blushes!! They weren't really that pigmented, but I think that it will give a nice natural flush on the cheeks to any look.

Moving to the eyeliner/crayon. It was a pretty coppery, shimmery color and pretty pigmented. I included one thick swatch and one thin swatch.

Next, are the pigments. Unfortunately you can't see the swatches very well, but I will still include them. All three pigments were very shimmery and pretty smooth in application. I also really like how it includes natural colors. These felt they would be very easy to apply in the inner lid and will make the whole look pop. I don't really like the packaging since it feels like it's made out of cheap plastic.

Now is time for the nail polishes. I didn't want to open them since I didn't feel like doing my nails. Maybe I do a separate review on these two one day. The kit included a pink and a purple nail polish.

Now it's time for eyeshadow. I will first start with the top row. All of them had pretty good pay off (except the first one which I can see as a highlight kind of shadow), but the light purple and the whitish tan one to the right of it was pretty chalky while swatching. And all of the eyeshadows but the black were shimmery. From left to right the colors were: very sheer tan (exact same color as my skin), light purple, whitish tan, dark purple, and matte black (not very dark though).

For the second row the white and brown shadow were matte while the others were shimmer. The only chalky one was the white one. And just like the last row, the pigmentation was pretty good. From left to right the colors were: white, silver, brown, metallic midnight, light bluish grey.

Lastly the last row, which I like to call the neutral line. All of the shadows were shimmery except the light brown and dark brown. On the pan the light brown has specks of glitter, but when I swatch it they didn't even show up. The pigmentation was good once again, but the last shadow was pretty chalky when swatched. Also for some strange reason, this last one really reminds me of some of the shadows from the smashbox full exposure palette. Now it is time for the lip glosses. They felt pretty hydrating and not sticky which I think is a perfect combo for a lipgloss. Of course since they are lip glosses, they were sheer but looks like they will look pretty and on too heavy on the lips.

Last but not least...the mascara. Since it is a mascara and I didn't want to waste it, I will leave it for a different post to review on this mascara. For now here is a close up of what the packaging looks like.

In addition to the kit, it came with one double sided applicator, and three one sided applicator. I never use these, so I will be throwing them away since I have no point in keeping them.

As a whole I think that it was pretty good. I would definitely give this kind of kit to someone who is new to makeup and doesn't want to spend too much money on products that they think they will use, but end up not using. I'm not really new to makeup myself. I have been wearing for a few years, but a little more makeup doesn't hurt to have right? They definitely aren't the best, but they aren't the worst as well. For sure I can see myself using the shadows on the third row the most since I do tend to wear eyeshadow that is more on the neutral side. I do think that this isn't too friendly on the whole matte thing. There were very few eyeshadows that were matte, while the rest were shimmery. I kind of don't like that fact that the kit came in pans instead of a palette. On the bright side, you can just toss away the shadows that you aren't using instead of just having it sit on the palette there filling up space. If I was new to makeup I would have give it a 3.5 to 4 stars, but since I'm not I'll be nice I give it 3 stars. Mostly because the pans in the bottom were very dirty and hard to clean, and the quality of the packaging was ok. I'm not sure how much this kit costs since it was a gift for me, so I wouldn't know if it was worth the money. When I looked it up, there was a similar kit for $15. If this was $15 I would say that it was a pretty good deal. But for me, if I were to walk by and see it, I wouldn't have bought it for myself just because I have never heard of this brand and I wouldn't buy a kit for myself unless it was guaranteed I was going to love it.
